you will learn in this course

  • Master Your Equipment: Familiarize yourself with your gear before diving. Learn to wear and adjust your BCD (Buoyancy Control Device), regulator, and wetsuit for comfort and safety.
  • Practice Equalization: Learn to equalize your ears as you descend. Pinch your nose and gently blow to relieve pressure, ensuring a smooth dive experience.
  • Control Your Buoyancy: Practice buoyancy control throughout your dive. Use your BCD and proper breathing to maintain neutral buoyancy, conserving energy and protecting the coral.
  • Stay Relaxed and Calm: Keep a calm mindset underwater. Avoid panic, which can lead to rapid breathing and loss of control. Breathe slowly and deeply to stay focused.
  • Use Proper Hand Signals: Communicate with your dive buddy using standard hand signals. This ensures safety and effective communication underwater.
  • Follow the Dive Plan: Stick to the dive plan set by your instructor, including depth limits, time limits, and routes, to ensure a safe and enjoyable dive.
  • Monitor Your Air Supply: Check your air gauge regularly to ensure enough air for the whole dive. Plan to ascend with at least 50 bar (or 500 psi) left.
  • Ascend Slowly: Ascend at a controlled rate, no faster than 9-18 meters (30-60 feet) per minute. This helps your body safely release any built-up nitrogen.
  • Perform Safety Stops: After deeper dives, conduct a safety stop at around 5 meters (15 feet) for 3 minutes to let nitrogen leave your body.
  • Stay Aware of Your Surroundings: Be aware of currents, marine life, and other divers. Maintain situational awareness to stay safe.
